Twenty Plus Ideas For A Fabulous Fourth of July

Twenty Plus Ideas For A Fabulous Fourth of July

Have you looked at a calendar lately?  I am always amazed at how fast summer goes.  It seems to me the day after school is done for the year, I start to see back-to-school ads.  Anyway, I took a peek at the calendar a little bit ago, and the Fourth of July is only three weeks away.  Three weeks????  If you're as surprised as I was, don't worry, Emily and I have you covered-but mostly Emily, because she is the Pinterest princess (sorry, couldn't resist the alliteration).

Let's start with cookies.  No surprises there.  We're Family Cookie Cutters, so of course we have a patriotic bundle.

Since the kids are home from school, making cookies together is a great way to teach them math, chemistry, art and character traits like patience or correcting mistakes.  We do have some examples of what finished cookies can look like if you wish to see a guide, but the ones you make with your children may involve more sprinkles and less defined lines.

If you're hosting this year, Emily has gathered quite a few great pins to take your gathering up a notch without straining your already-stretched checking account or taking you to the brink of exhaustion.  Take, for example, the humble deviled egg.  If your family is like ours, they can be hors d'oeuvres, a side dish, a snack or an empty plate because someone got to them before dinner!  Deviled eggs come with a wide variety of garnishes (paprika, garlic, chives, etc.), but have you ever seen them in different colors?

Still very easy to make, you can still tweak the recipe for your favorite flavor, and very eye catching on the table.  Probably still going to be stolen by a roving husband, too.
Speaking of the tablescape, this idea incorporates supplies you probably have on hand already.

Not being super crafty or a creative genius, these are perfect for my level of talent and patience.

The board holds much more than food.  How fun would this be for the kids to grab and go (with supervision, of course)?

You could make the rule "'when they're gone, they're gone" or refill when empty.

From decorations to invitations to photobooth ideas and more, the Independence Day board has 22 pins to help you celebrate.  Many of those pins have 10+ ideas for Fourth of July carry ins, barbecues, birthdays and so on.  Comment below with the ones you want to or have tried.  We'd love to hear about your height of summer fun!
